Scottish-Lithuanian baritone, Daniel Brener made his operatic debut as Papageno Die Zauberflöte with Maestro Carlos Spierer for Opernfest Berlin at the Alte Münze Theatre. His roles now include Guglielmo Così fan tutte, Belcore L'elisir d'amore and The Hunter Rusalka. As a concert soloist, recent performances include Bach St John Passion at Linlithgow Palace, Christmas Oratorio for Epiphany, Ich habe genug, Cantatas BWV 32, 36, 41, 70, 71, 101, 103, 140, 155, Mozart Requiem, Haydn The Creation, Stanford Nunc dimittis at St Albans Cathedral and Vaughan-Williams Songs of Travel. Daniel has been frequently invited to perform as a soloist with the Glasgow Bach Cantata Project since its inception in 2021. He performed in Scotland under the baton of renowned Bach expert Professor John Butt OBE at Glasgow Cathedral and conductors Michael Bawtree and Frikki Walter.Daniel comes from a family of professional musicians and actors and has been at home in the world of opera, theatre and classical music since childhood. He studies with baritone Professor Marian Pop, soprano Effie Gray, conductor Richard Lewis, vocal coaches Professor Byron Knutson and Irène Kudela and German coach Daniel Isengart. To support his performance at the summer festival Berlin Opernfest he was awarded the Lily Niblock Memorial Scholarship in 2023.This September, Daniel presents Bach’s solo cantata Ich habe genug at St Giles’ Cathedral, Edinburgh. He will then work with Prof. Edda Moser at the renowned Haus Marteau masterclasses in Lichtenberg (Upper Franconia), Germany before competing in the semi-final of the International Nehama Lifshitz Vocal Competition in Vilnius, Lithuania.
